Overview

The Sea Kayak program in Ammouliani, the only inhabited island in Halkidiki, begins at the Tower of Prosforiou near the port of Ouranoupolis. This program takes place in a small and stunning island that offers the perfect conditions for sea kayak holidays.

The first destination of the program is the beautiful beaches of the nearby island of Drenia. Here, equipped with diving masks and snorkels, participants can explore the seabed, swim in the warm crystal-clear waters, and bask in the sun on golden sandy beaches. Then, the journey continues towards Ammouliani, with the participants encountering spectacular cliffs and reefs on the Southwest Coast. At noon, the group takes a break at Alykes beach and continues to Karagatsia Bay. This will be the camping spot for the night and a sublime BBQ dinner is planned on the beach! In the evening, participants can choose to transfer by road and take a walk to the town of Ammouliani or have lunch at the campsite taverna in Alykes.

On the second day, the group packs their kayaks and continues to paddle towards the beaches of Faka, Tratovoli, and Tsaska, where they take a rest. About 6 nautical miles later, after passing the port of Ammouliani, the group stops for a light lunch at either St. George or Grypos beach, which are almost adjacent! Then, they pass by the islets of Drenia or Gaidaronisia before completing the tour by returning to Ouranoupolis.

In the past, Ammouliani was a part of the Vatopedi Monastery, and after 1925, it became a place of settlement for refugees from Asia Minor. The island has about five hundred permanent residents who are engaged in fishing and tourism.
