During our Aegina Self Guided Hiking Tour, enjoy a unique stay in the magnificent 19th century historical villa “Pyrgos Ralli”.
Aegina was one of the greatest sea powers of antiquity and the biggest rivals of Ancient Athens. It is believed that Aegina introduced coins to the Western world!
Visit the magnificent Temple of Aphaia. An amazing fact is that this temple was built in order to form an isosceles triangle with the temple of Poseidon in Sounion and the Hephaisteion on the Acropolis of Athens! Explore the medieval settlement of Paleochora. The historical buildings from when Aegina was the first capital of the new independent Greek State in 1828. Walk through an ancient olive grove and hike on trails with stunning views! Swim under ancient ruins, experience the unique sunsets of the Saronic Gulf and savor the world-famous pistachio right off the tree!

Upon your arrival in Aegina, our hosts will welcome you and share all necessary information for you to enjoy a hassle-free hiking holiday. The chosen itinerary is designed to give you the highlights of this beautiful and historic island in 3 days! Make your way to the main port of Pireaus, to take the regular boat (approx.1 hour, 10 min) or the hydrofoil (approx. 40 min.) to the island of Aegina. Upon arrival in Aegina, you will be transferred to Pyrgos Ralli Estate, 1 km from the main port-city of Aegina. The friendly owners will welcome you and give you all necessary information for your stay and will make you feel at home. Once you settle in your apartment, visit the beautiful and historical town of Aegina.
Discover the churches, the fortified tower-house of Markellos; visit the administration buildings from the time when Aegina became the first capital of independent Greece in 1828. See the traditional fish market, make a stop for some ouzo and octopus, taste the world-renowned Aegina pistachio. Conclude your tour at the ruins of the Ancient port and city, for an optional visit at the Temple of Apollo and the Archaeological Museum.

Our journey takes us to two of the most significant sights of Aegina, and indeed of the country: the Temple of Aphaia and Paliochora. We start by exploring the ruins of the Medieval city with panoramic views of St. Nektarios Monastery and the Aegean sea, all the way to the summit of the fort. We then descend towards the village of Mesagros. From there, we begin the 30 minute climb to the hill and the Ancient Temple of Aphaia. After an optional visit to the Archaeological site and its Museum, `we head downhill towards Agia Marina seaside village.

We begin our hike from Marathonas beach village. After 1 hour, we arrive at the heart of the ancient Olive grove, where we can make a relaxation and discovery stop among the centennial olive trees of the valley. We then go uphill to reach the picturesque village of Pachia Rachi. From there we descend towards Kapotides village, another great location for an exploration stop. Finally, we descent back to Marathonas village, completing the circle. At the end of the day, embark on the regular boat or the hydrofoil to return to Piraeus.
