You will meet our Trekking Hellas guide at our office, in Parthenonos street. The activity starts and ends there. Our tour starts from the south slope of the Acropolis, where we pass by the Theater of Dionysus, the actual location where theater was first invented, to learn how it all happened. We continue towards the Temple of Olympian Zeus. This is the location that according to Greek mythology, the receding great flood, a common story around the world, finally came to an end. We now enter Plaka neighborhood, passing from Lysicrates choragic monument, to discover how theatre could afford to be free for the spectators! We continue uphill, towards Anafiotika neighborhood, to admire the numerous sacred caves on the slopes of Acropolis hill, and listen to all the mythological stories connected with them. Descending towards Monastiraki neighborhood, we see the Roman Forum and the Tower of the wind gods, with the company of anecdotal historic stories of gods helping win wars, and of funny stories of the past connected with the ancient remnants. We now continue towards the Ancient Agora, to listen to the myths that shaped the heart of classical Athens. Going uphill once more, we pass by the hills next to Acropolis: Areopagus, the supreme and divine court of Ancient Greece, from the times of Heroes up until the times of …Saint Paul the Apostle! Next is the Hill of the Nymphs, location of the battle between the Athenians and the Amazons, and birth ground of Democracy. Finally, we climb up Philopappus hill, arguably the nicest panoramic point in the city, to learn about ancient Greeks’ worship of the Muses, goddesses of Arts. After enjoying the relaxing hilltop, we descend towards our starting point, to complete the tour.
