Want to spend 2 days off the beaten path in Santorini and live a large variety of intense experiences? Then we have what you need: Hiking, Kayaking, Cooking Classes, and Scuba Diving are awaiting you!
After convenient pickup from your hotel, head to a church that’s dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God just outside the traditional village of Akrotiri, where you begin your hiking adventure. Set off along a trail that showcases incomparable views of both sides of the island, in and out of the immense caldera for which Santorini is known. Pass through sprawling vineyards and long-deserted chapels that take you back to what life was like on this island during bygone generations.
This scenic hike leads you to the idyllic beach of Mesa Pigadia, where your kayak tour will depart from. After a short briefing, start paddling along the coastline admiring beautiful rock formations and cave houses built into the cliffs. You soon reach the Black Mountain and the Akrotiri lighthouse, exploring sea caves along the way. Enjoy a fresh nutritious snack at a traditional tavern on Kampia Beach and go snorkeling from the beach. Back in your kayak, paddle to the famous Red Beach and marvel at the colors, vivid evidence of volcanic activity.
Return to your starting point at Mesa Pigadia and change into your dry clothes. Then, you will be welcomed by our talented chef who’s excited to show you the secrets of traditional Grecian cooking. Join her in a cooking lesson that lets you help prepare a variety of lovely dishes all bursting with flavor. After enjoying a delicious homemade meal, we will transfer you back to your hotel.
After picking you up at your hotel, we’ll bring you to the Dive Station, located at Caldera Beach, a small remote beach with traditional caves below the cliffs of Akrotiri.
If you are a non-certified diver :
First, you will receive a lesson from a qualified instructor covering a little physics, physiology, and underwater communication. You will learn how to operate the scuba gear, then we will suit up and walk straight into the sea. In water shallow enough to stand in, we will have you perform some simple exercises, after which you will practice breathing underwater. Then we will take you out in deeper water where you won’t touch bottom anymore. If you feel comfortable, we will swim underwater to a reef at a depth of 6 -7 meters.
If you are a certified diver :
You will receive 1 full tank of oxygen and board a spacious boat that will bring you to different diving sites. The chosen sites depend on the weather, but we generally do one at the New and Old Volcano and one at the cliffs of the Caldera. The dive sites around the New and Old Volcano offer beautiful lava formations and marine life such as lobsters, moray eels, clams and spirographs hiding amongst the lava rocks. You might also be able to spot the wreck of a small passenger ship in the bay of the New Volcano. The dives site at the cliffs of the Caldera offers a variety of colorful sponges, nudibranchs, groupers, snappers, barracuda and many fishes. All our dives are guided by qualified instructors.
Once you’re back to the shore, have a shower, change into your dry clothes before sitting down to a traditional Greek lunch at a local tavern. Following the meal, you will be driven back to your pick up location.
