The tour starts at the beautiful beach of Apollonas, located on the northeastern side of Naxos Island. Apollonas is a small fishing village, named after Apollo, the Olympian god of light and music, and is inhabited since ancient times. Nearby the village lies the imposing Kouros of Apollonas, a half-finished statue of 10.5 meters, dating back to the 6th century BC. You will have the chance to visit the famous Kouros of Apollonas after your kayaking activity and make a stop there for photos.
After an equipment check and safety briefing by your certified guide, you’ll be ready to go! You’ll be paddling a distance of about 9 km along the north coast of Naxos, heading south. The crystal-clear blue-green waters will amaze you as you explore hidden coves, sea caves, arches, secluded beaches and impressive rock formations along the way.
Different stops at pristine, secluded beaches invite you to relax and get away from it all. Your guide will prepare homemade delicious snacks for you to sample the local products and delicacies of Naxos. All you have to do is just sit back and enjoy, or swim and explore the rich marine life of the area which snorkeling will bring even closer to you. Along the way, the view from the neighboring Cycladic islands is breathtaking!
Then back to our kayaks to head back to the starting point at Apollonas Beach. We end our tour in the best way possible: a scrumptious traditional meal at the local taverna where you can relax and enjoy the view (optional meal at an extra cost).
