Road trip to Kissavos

A road trip. A scenic route. A mountain less known.

A place where the mountain merges with the sea, history with legend, and culture with tradition.

Explore Mount Kissavos with a mini bus or 4x4 vehicle of Trekking Hellas. Starting from the village of Velika, we will drive, visit, and discover hidden treasures of this relatively unknown mountain of Thessaly.

The drive takes us through dense forests, rivers, and dirt roads leading to small villages, where we can visit local mansions, historic monasteries, and even stop for a session of archery.

Suggested route 

Velika - Agia - Metaxochori - Megalovrisso - Anatoli (visit the monastery  where the nuns will make us coffee) - Spilia - Kanalos* - Arioprino - Karitsa - Kokkino Nero - Koutsoupia - Paliouria - Velika

* At Kanalos, we will visit the mountain shelter of Kissavos where we can  - weather & daylight permitting - begin our hike to the summit, Prophitis Elias (1.978 m). Alternatively, instead of going to the summit, we can go for some caving and explore the "Nymphs Cave" in Spilia or  hike and swim in the waterfalls at the Calypso Gorge.

The route can be tailor-made and altered, depending on the areas of interest to include: Olympus, Kissavos, Mavrovouni, Peneus Delta or Pelion.
