Escape for a day to the mythical valley of Nemea — one of the Peloponnese’s most historic and captivating destinations, just an hour from Athens. This is the land where Hercules defeated the Nemean lion, and where myths still linger amidst vineyards, olive groves, chapels, and ancient ruins.
The experience begins at Panagia tou Vrachou (Lady of the Rock), a 17th-century chapel built into the cliffs with stunning views over the Nemean plain. From there, we’ll hike along old trails, pass by hermit caves carved into the rock, and climb to the Castle of Polyfengo, a medieval fortress offering breathtaking panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and mountain ranges.
We’ll conclude the activity with a wine tasting session at a local winery, sampling the region’s celebrated Agiorgitiko, Greece’s most famous red wine. For those wishing to extend their experience, we can optionally arrange a traditional lunch at a local taverna and/or a visit to the Ancient Nemea archaeological site, one of the most important ancient sanctuaries and sports venues in Greece.
A complete journey through myth, history, nature, and authentic flavors.
