Syrrako and Kalarrytes, the 'twin nobly villages' of Tzoumerka, are undoubtedly the most impressive villages of the area. Syrrako, built at 1.150m on the slope of Lakmos Mountain, seems to hung over the impressive gorge of Chrousia river. On the other hand, Kalarrytes, built exactly opposite, on the slope of Poulania at 1200m, look at the great view of the peaks around. Even if the villages seem to be near of each other, they're separated from the steep gorge of Kalarrytikos River. These historical villages keep unchanged the traditional architecture with the stone houses and the roofs made of slate.
It's a stunning route that begins at Kalarrites (1,170m). It leads to the enchanting waterfalls and the historic Quiassa mill. As the waters flow, they become potable, cold, and crystal clear. Continuing our journey, they ascend to the Sirrakos square, passing through the enchanting forest. Along the way, we pause briefly to admire the surroundings. Then we descend to the Chrousia river gorge, where we can enjoy a refreshing bath during the warm months. As we ascend, we reach the central square of Kalarrites, completing our journey. There is the oldest tavern in Greece 180 years old, the folklore museum where we can see the first handmade BVLGARI jewelry. The BVLGARI house was founded in 1884 by Sotirios Bulgari, whose origin is from the Kalarrites.
