Peloponnese became the ultimate stage for global adventure tourism!

With international media, leading buyers, high-level outdoor experiences and a multidimensional storytelling approach combining nature, culture and gastronomy, AdventureWEEK Peloponnese 2026 — the largest adventure tourism initiative ever hosted in Greece — has successfully concluded.

From May 4 to May 13, the Region of Peloponnese, in collaboration with the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) and with the support of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), brought the global adventure travel community to the heart of the Peloponnese, transforming the region into a live experiential showcase of sustainable tourism.

As Official Partner of the initiative, Trekking Hellas played a leading role in the design, coordination and implementation of the experiential itineraries, curating authentic experiences that highlighted the diversity, authenticity and global potential of the Peloponnese as a world-class adventure destination.

A total of two multi-day fam trips were conducted with 32 participants, including ATTA representative Maureen Seeley, bringing together 18 international buyers and 13 media representatives from key strategic markets including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Canada.

At the same time, the Region of Peloponnese and Visit Peloponnese hosted representatives from internationally renowned media and travel brands, including National Geographic, CNN Travel, Lonely Planet, BBC Travel, Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, significantly strengthening the international visibility of the destination.

Trekking Hellas also participated dynamically in the Marketplace Event, holding 24 scheduled B2B meetings with buyers and media representatives from strategic international markets. These meetings created meaningful opportunities for future collaborations, new tourism flows and the further international positioning of Greece within the sustainable adventure tourism sector.

As the largest outdoor and adventure tourism company in Greece, Trekking Hellas continues to actively invest in the development of experiential and alternative tourism, helping connect local communities with the international travel market while contributing to Greece’s positioning as a year-round destination

The itineraries were designed as immersive journeys through the impressive diversity of the Peloponnese, combining sea kayaking, rafting, hiking, climbing, cycling, cultural experiences, gastronomy workshops and authentic interactions with local communities.

Participants travelled across 17 municipalities and all 5 regional units of the Peloponnese, experiencing a rich mosaic of landscapes and stories that showcased the destination far beyond conventional tourism narratives.

“The organisation of AdventureWEEK Peloponnese represents an important opportunity for the development of a sustainable tourism model that respects the identity of each destination, supports local communities and protects both the natural and cultural environment. Education and the active involvement of local communities play a crucial role in this effort, with Trekking Hellas remaining a committed supporter of this vision,” said Irini Dusendschoen, Incoming Sales Manager at Trekking Hellas.

Among the highlights most frequently mentioned by participants were:

- the sea kayaking experience at Lake Vouliagmeni and the Ancient Heraion of Loutraki,

- hiking and rafting in the Lousios Gorge,

- local gastronomy and authentic culinary experiences,

- the castles and historic landmarks of the Peloponnese,

- the region’s spring landscapes and biodiversity,

- and above all, the authentic hospitality and people they encountered throughout the journey.

Participants also shared exceptionally positive feedback regarding the Trekking Hellas team, praising the overall organisation, coordination and quality of the hosted experience throughout the entire event.

AdventureWEEK Peloponnese 2026 confirmed the Peloponnese’s strong potential as an international sustainable adventure tourism destination while highlighting the importance of strategic collaboration between public authorities, local communities and experienced experiential tourism operators.

“AdventureWEEK Peloponnese 2026 proved in practice that Greece can offer world-class experiences beyond the traditional tourism model. Peloponnese has everything today’s travellers are looking for: authenticity, nature, culture, people and powerful storytelling. For all of us at Trekking Hellas, it was a great honour to serve as Official Partner of such an important international initiative and contribute to positioning Greece as a leading global adventure destination,” said Stefanos Sidiropoulos, CEO of Trekking Hellas Group.

With 40 years of experience in Greek outdoor tourism, Trekking Hellas continues to invest in creating authentic experiences that connect visitors with nature, culture and local communities across Greece, actively contributing to the country’s evolution as a leading global adventure destination.
