The hike begins from the village of Salakos, in central Rhodes. Starting from the foothills of Profitis Ilias (798m), we gradually climb upwards, through a beautiful and well-maintained path towards the meadows, just before the summit. It is a relatively easy hike, "protected" under the shade of pine & oak trees, and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes (ascent). Our destination is the "Elafos" and "Elafina" buildings, two Italian hotels built in 1930ies, and recently renovated (one of the two). Rich in history and beauty, as they follow the architecture of the Swiss/Austrian Alps, they offer an ideal setting for a short break. Descending towards Salakos we have the opportunity to enjoy the view which is magnificent - through the tall trees we can spot the coast of Turkey, and some of the other Dodecanese islands.
We then return back to the hotel.
