Overview

The Teen Adventure Camp Karpenisi-Parnassos offers an exciting 10-day experience for teens aged 15-17, combining action, exploration, and fun in these enchanting locations. The program includes unique outdoor activities like canyoning, rock climbing, hiking through nature, and visits to historical sites such as Delphi. There’s also time to relax in the sea, and the stay in tents and mountain huts adds a mix of simplicity and adventure.

Safety is a top priority, with certified first-aid guides always on hand and a support vehicle available throughout the program.

Reservation steps

  • Online Participant's Personal Information Form
  • At least 1 month before the start of the program, you are kindly asked to send the Medical Form, signed by a pediatrician/pathologist.

  • In case of a history of severe allergic reactions/anaphylaxis, you must provide us with a signed Medical Form from an allergist at least 1 month before the start of the program.

*Important note: The Participant's Personal Information Form must be filled out by the parent/legal guardian of the child.

Accommodation

Karpenissi campsite

Campers stay in igloo-style tents accommodating 2 to 3 children of the same gender and age group.

The tents are waterproof, featuring double layers and special sleeping mats for added comfort.

Team leaders also stay in tents nearby to ensure the safety and supervision of the children 24/7.

Krikello Guesthouse

Campers are housed in rooms at a local guesthouse in the village of Krikello, which includes toilets and showers.

Ambliani School

During their stay at the school, the municipality will provide classrooms where children will sleep on camping mats and in sleeping bags brought by the camp. Toilets will be available throughout their stay.

Grammeni Oxia Mountain Hut

Children will stay in dormitories at the shelter, which is equipped with toilets and showers.

Camping at Ai-Giannis

Campers will stay in 2-3 person tents provided by the camp. The camping site is equipped with toilets and showers for their use during their stay.

*Note: Children's belongings will be transported by the Trekking Hellas support vehicle. Each child will carry only a hiking backpack with essential items required for the daily program, as instructed by their team leaders.

Location

This program involves transfers, with children visiting various locations.

The campsite, located at the foothills of Kaliakouda, is 10 km from Megalo Chorio (approximately 30-40 minutes) and 25 km from Karpenisi (approximately 50-60 minutes).

*Note: Throughout the program, a hospital is always within close proximity, ranging from 10 to 50 minutes away, depending on the location of the day’s activities.

Daily Activities

The program’s activities are designed specifically for the teenage age group. While they are not highly demanding, they do require a good level of physical condition.

During the camp, the schedule may be adjusted based on weather conditions and the group’s dynamics.

Organizational structure - Staff

Camp Director: Stalikas Dimitris, general manager of Trekking Hellas Evritania.

Dimitris is a member of the Karpenisi Rescue Team and has had longstanding and dynamic involvement in outdoor activities (rafting, climbing, hiking, canyoning, skiing) and is a certified First Aider. He is well experienced in operating summer camps for kids and youth, is a passionate nature lover and aims to inspire our younger generations, to respect and value our natural resources. He is in charge of the camp program and has the overall responsibility for its smooth operation.

Team leader: Leads his group, guides, helps, inspires & protects. Aims to be close to the kids, get to know them, and support them in every way possible. All counselors have been trained by the Karpenissi Summer Camp team in all aspects of camp life, completing a course that includes theoretical and practical guidelines. They are also First Aiders.

Activity guides: Activity guides are trained and experienced guides, certified in outdoor activities such as climbing, rafting, and mountaineering, and are responsible for coordinating and supervising respective outdoor activities. 

The camp director, as well as all activity Guides, have received the highest First Aid Certification from the American Heart Association.

Also, depending on their specialization, they are certified for supervising activities by the following organizations:

ICAN: Canyoning, River Trekking & Via Ferrata
IRF: Rafting
DIEK: Mountain Escorts

In case of emergency, The General Hospital of Karpenissi is located at a distance of 35' from the campsite

Transfer

Our Reservations Department will inform you about the time & pick up/drop off point of the kids in due time.

Our Reservations Department must be notified of any change concerning the drop off or pick up of the kids at least 2 days in advance: kids@trekking.gr / tel. (+30) 210 3310323.

Visitation day

No open/visitation day will be held.

Activities / Schedule

Day 1

The day begins with departure from Athens at, heading toward the campsite at the summit of Kaliakouda.

The journey provides an opportunity to get acquainted and prepare for the days ahead.

Upon arrival, a lunch is served, followed by settling into tents and a briefing on the program, along with team introductions.

The day concludes with a dinner.

Day 2

Our day begins with breakfast, providing the energy needed for the upcoming activity.

After breakfast, the group departs for the Vothonas Gorge to enjoy a unique canyoning experience.

Following the activity, we will have a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, the group returns to the campsite for a briefing and preparation for the upcoming four-day hiking expedition.

The day concludes with dinner.

Day 3

The day begins with breakfast to provide the necessary energy for the group!

Immediately after, we start the four-day hiking expedition, with the first route from the campsite to the picturesque village of Krikello.

The total duration of the hike is 7 hours, including rest stops, with the actual hiking time lasting 5 hours. During the hike, we will enjoy a light lunch at one of the stops.

Upon arrival in Krikello, the group settles into a traditional guesthouse in the village, which has toilets and showers. The evening concludes with dinner at a local tavern in the village.

Day 4

The day begins with breakfast and preparation for the second day of hiking.

The route from Krikello to Ambliani lasts a total of 6 hours, including rest stops, with the actual hiking time estimated at 4 hours.

During the hike, there will be a stop for lunch and necessary rest.

Upon arrival in Ambliani, the group settles into the local primary school.

The evening concludes with dinner at a local tavern in the village.

Day 5

The fifth day begins with breakfast before we continue the hike from Ambliani to Grammeni Oxia.

The route lasts a total of 6 hours, including rest stops, with the actual hiking time being 4 hours.

During the hike, we will make a stop for a light lunch.

Upon arrival at the Grammeni Oxia mountain hut, the group settles into the dormitories that will accommodate the night's stay.

The day concludes with dinner at the shelter.

Day 6

The day begins with breakfast before the group boards the bus for the return to the campsite.

Upon arrival, lunch will be served.

The afternoon is dedicated to rest and a briefing on the upcoming two-day climbing program.

The evening concludes with a delightful dinner!

Day 7

The day begins with breakfast before the group departs from the campsite, heading to Itea.

Upon arrival, the group settles into the Ai Giannis camping, in tents provided by the camp.

At noon, we will enjoy our lunch at a local tavern in the area.

The afternoon is dedicated to rest, a briefing, and, of course, a refreshing swim in the sea.

The evening concludes with dinner at a local tavern, rounding off our day beautifully.

Day 8

The day begins with breakfast before the group heads to Amfissa for a unique climbing experience.

After this exciting activity, we will have our lunch, rest, and in the afternoon, we’ll take another dip in the sea.

The day concludes with dinner at a tavern.

Day 9

The day begins with breakfast and continues with rock climbing above Amfissa. Participants enjoy the unique experience of climbing, exploring the area's natural landscapes.

After lunch, the group will embark on a short hike to the Panos Cave or the Corycian Cave on Mount Parnassos, one site of exceptional natural and historical significance.

The day continues with a relaxing swim in the sea.

The evening concludes with dinner at a tavern.

Day 10

The last day begins with breakfast, preparing the group for a short hike to the historic Delphi, a place with rich history and natural beauty.

After the hike, we will depart for Athens, filled with new experiences, images, and unforgettable moments from the trip!

Equipment

Kindly pay close attention to the bring-along list below, as the special and exciting camp activities require the right gear for them to be enjoyable and not tiring for the kids. Backpacks and shoes that are not designed for mountain activities can cause injuries.

Luggage:

  • Mountaineering backpack at least 50 Lt for activities (not school bags)

Note: Pack only one piece of luggage in order for it to fit in the tent.

Accommodation:

  • Sleeping bag (Winter, at least -3°)
  • Head flashlight with extra batteries
  • 1 single sheets, 1 pillowcase and small pillow 

Note: Instead of a pillow, we recommend a pillowcase, which children fill with clothes

Clothing & footwear:

  • 1 pair of sneakers /sport shoes
  • 1 pair of hiking boots
  • 1 pair of river shoes or Teva sandals that will be used in the river.
  • Climbing shoes (in case someone already has)
  • Short-sleeved t-shirts, shorts, track pants, long hiking trouser and sweatshirts - many t-shirts and underwear due to frequent sweating
  • Underwear, cotton long socks, pyjamas
  • Fleece or warm sweater
  • Winter jacket
  • Anorak jacket (waterproof and windproof)

Note: NO flip-flops or Crocs!

Excursions:

  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Water bottle (1 liter)
  • Sunscreen with a high protection factor for face/body
  • Lip balm
  • Swimsuit-beach towel 

Personal hygiene items:

  • 2 towels

Meals

The dietary program has been designed to meet all the kids’ nutritional needs. It includes 5 meals per day and is adapted to the activities that take place according to the program.

  • Breakfast: Milk, orange juice, bread, jam, butter, honey, (yogurt when possible) 
  • Snack: Cereal bars, breadsticks, cake, tsoureki
  • Afternoon snack: Fruit, doughnuts, bread with praline, cake

Camp and the Reservations Department are always at your disposal for any questions or information you may have regarding the camp program and your child's participation in it. In order to ensure that the program runs smoothly and achieves its goal, specific times have been set aside for telephone contact with your kids.

In this program, children are allowed to have mobile phones.

Every evening from 20:30 to 22:30, you can communicate with them.
