Activities / Schedule

Arrive to Eptalofos

Arrive in Eptalofos and settle into your hotel. This picturesque mountain village is known for its charming stone houses, a small waterfall, and a traditional village square shaded by centuries-old plane trees. A perfect introduction to rural Greece and the slopes of Mount Parnassos.

Eptalofos – Eptastomos & Transfer to Arachova

The trail winds through peaceful forests on a well-defined path. In ancient mythology, the alpine zone of Mount Parnassos was believed to be the home of the Nymphs, daughters of Mother Earth (Gaia), who danced here to honour the gods. Along the way, you will see several entrances to the Eptastomos Cave. The name means “seven mouths,” referring to its seven natural entrances. Formed by one of southern Europe’s glaciers, the cave was considered by the ancients to be an entrance to the underworld.

After the hike, transfer to Arachova for your overnight stay. Built on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, Arachova is a lively mountain village with stone houses, narrow alleys, and natural springs. Despite its growth due to the nearby ski resort, the village has preserved its traditional character. The area is renowned for local products such as olives and olive oil, tsipouro, formaella and feta cheeses, yogurt, opsimotiri cheese, halvah, frumenty, and handmade noodles. Arachova is also famous for its traditional woolen textiles, woven on looms using natural dyes.

  • Distance: 7 km
  • Duration: 4-5 hours
  • Ascent: 450 m
  • Descent: 100m
  • Altitude: 850m - 1300m

Arachova – Marmara – Delphi

Begin the day with a 40-minute transfer from Arachova to Marmara. The hike starts in a forested landscape and continues along a downhill dirt path with stone steps and rocky sections, part of the original ancient trail. This is a truly historic and inspiring route.

Today you follow a section of the E4 European Long-Distance Trail, which stretches from Portugal to Cyprus. This is considered one of the most scenic parts of the route. The hike descends from the slopes of Mount Parnassos toward Delphi, along an ancient footpath once used by worshippers traveling from northern Greece to the sacred temples.

The hike begins on the Livadi Plateau at an altitude of 1,200 m. Descending through lush forests, you eventually reach the Delphi Sanctuary, a breathtaking location overlooking the vast olive groves of the valley and the Corinthian Gulf, with the mountains of the Peloponnese rising in the distance.

In the afternoon, you will have free time to visit the Temple of Apollo and explore the archaeological site.

  • Distance: 8 km
  • Duration: 4 - 5 hours
  • Descent: 850m
  • Altitude: 1400m

Delphi – Seaside Itea (E4 Trail)

Follow a downhill path and quiet rural road from Delphi to the outskirts of Chrisso village. In antiquity, the city of Crissa welcomed visitors to the Oracle of Delphi. Walking in the footsteps of ancient pilgrims, you continue through the heart of the Crisaean Olive Grove, a unique landscape protected by UNESCO and home to more than 1.5 million olive trees.

Enjoy the ever-changing colors of the silver-green olive leaves throughout the day and admire the naturally sculpted trunks of impressive centuries-old trees. The hike concludes at the sea, in Itea, a charming coastal town and small port on the Corinthian Gulf.

  • Distance: 11km/6,9miles
  • Duration: 5 hours
  • Descent: 550m/1800ft
  • Altitudes: 550m/1800ft to sea level
