Aegean’s Small Cyclades Islands: 7 Days Sea Kayak & Hike

Welcome to Schinoussa! We will meet you at the port, and upon your arrival in the afternoon, we will head to the nearby village of Chora to settle into our hotel. Later, we will stroll around the main village of the island, admiring the distinctive architecture of the narrow alleyways and whitewashed houses, and conclude our walk with a viewpoint to take in the Aegean archipelago and the surrounding islands. There, you will have an excellent view of the historic, deserted island of Keros and learn about Cycladic history and culture. In the evening, we will gather for a welcome dinner at a local taverna, where you can taste Greek raki, relax, and chat about the upcoming adventures!

Overnight in Schinoussa

Today’s kayak adventure begins at the kayak base on Livadi Beach, just a 15-minute walk from our hotel. Upon arrival, your guides will provide a thorough briefing and introduction to your kayaking equipment. Then, our adventure will begin! We will paddle around the southernmost Schinoussian cape, gliding alongside rugged coastlines and discovering beaches perfect for swimming. Explore the deserted islets of Aspronisi and Fidou, brave a cliff dive, learn how locals collect salt, and enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach. We will conclude our day at the starting point, where we will enjoy a barbecue dinner on the beach.

Overnight in Schinoussa

Starting from the port of Schinoussa, we will take a traditional wooden boat to the port of Heraklia, a small and peaceful island in the Small Cyclades. We will walk uphill to Panagia village and follow an old cobblestone path as we ascend to the col of Seladi to enjoy a panoramic view of Heraklia and the surrounding islands. Next, we will follow the route to the cave of Agios Ioannis, the largest cave in the Cyclades, where we will spend some time exploring its beautiful stalactites and domes of various sizes. After resting for a bit, we will continue the hike, passing by Mitata (old shepherds’ houses), and then descend to the beach of Alimia. Take your time to swim in its clear blue waters and check out the sunken seaplane from World War II. On our way back, relax on the boat’s deck for a cruise and enjoy the rocky southern coasts of Heraklia. Later in the afternoon, you will have free time in Schinoussa to walk around and enjoy dinner at a local taverna.
