Departure from Thessaloniki, ascent to Mytikas and overnight stay at Christakis Refuge
We depart at 07:30 from Thessaloniki, heading towards Kalyvia Elassonas at the foothills of Mount Olympus. From there, we continue by 4x4 vehicles along a mountain route leading to Christakis Refuge, at approximately 2.400 meters.
We arrive at the refuge around 12:00, prepare our equipment, and at 13:00 begin our ascent towards Mytikas. The route passes through the Skolio saddle (2.830 m) and continues to Kakoskala (2.866 m), overlooking the Megala Kazania. Using safety equipment, we complete the final section to Mytikas, the highest peak in Greece. After the descent, we return to the refuge at around 21:00.
Accommodation is arranged in the wider area of Christakis emergency refuge, either in tents or subject to availability, inside the refuge. A barbeque is organized by our team.
For the rest of the meals, you will need to arrange individually, as there is no fully operating kitchen at the refuge.
The meal we provide includes:
- Barbeque with souvlaki, sausages, bread, spreads and salad
- Snacks including a cereal bar, croissant and juice
Alternative route: For those who prefer a less demanding option, we offer the ascent to Skolio (2.912 m), the third highest peak in Greece. The route has no technical difficulty, takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, and does not require specialized equipment such as a helmet, harness or rope.
