Just one hour from Athens, discover a unique outdoor experience that combines hiking, mythology, history and wine in the beautiful landscape of Nemea.
Nemea unfolds among rolling hills and endless vineyards that seem to flow like waves across the landscape. It is a land deeply connected to its wine tradition. Here, the famous Agiorgitiko grape variety matures in one of the most important wine regions of Greece, where the wine roads lead visitors from small family wineries to historic estates with long traditions.
But beneath the vineyards lies an older world — the world of mythology. According to legend, this is where Hercules completed his first labor by slaying the Nemean Lion, forever linking the region with courage and strength. Nearby, the Ancient Stadium of Nemea still echoes with the spirit of the Nemean Games, one of the most important athletic festivals of ancient Greece.
In Nemea, nature, mythology and wine culture coexist harmoniously, creating a landscape that invites exploration.
The Hiking Experience
Our route takes us through a landscape that combines rock formations, vineyards and open views toward the mountains of Ziria. We walk along cultivated hillsides and vineyard paths, gradually ascending toward the impressive rock formations often referred to as the “Meteora of Corinthia”.
The hike leads us to the beautiful chapel of Panagia tou Vrachou (Our Lady of the Rock) — a remarkable viewpoint overlooking the Nemea valley and the surrounding mountains.
After the hike, we continue the experience with a visit to a local winery, where we enjoy a wine tasting of the famous Agiorgitiko wine and learn more about the region’s rich winemaking tradition.
Because in Nemea, the story is not only about myth, it is also about taste.
