Xerovouni, a limestone massif in Central Evia, is an extension of the Dirfis mountain complex. Its highest peak, Portaris, stands at 1,453 m. The mountain is covered with pine, fir, beech, and chestnut forests.
Directly opposite stands the majestic Dirfis, a beautiful and lush mountain in central Evia. With its main peak, Delphi, reaching an impressive altitude of 1,743 meters, Dirfis dominates the landscape. Its wild and steep terrain makes it the highest mountain in island Greece, second only to those in Crete. A true natural wonder. In ancient times, Delphi housed a temple of Hera Dyrphya, honoring her union with Zeus, believed to have occurred there. The sacred mountain, Dirfis, was devoted to her, earning her the epithet "Dirfya" or "Heavenly Hera."
