Overview

Mount Paiko is located north of Giannitsa and offers a beautiful natural landscape. Its highest peak, Gola Tsouka, stands at 1657 meters and is surrounded by dense forests, waterfalls, and green meadows. The trails are easy to walk and ideal for hiking, without major difficulties, and the scenery rewards you with amazing views of the vast plain and the mountains to the northwest.

About two hours from Thessaloniki, we reach Kastaneri village in Kilkis, at the Pramatari area. The trail starts at an observatory by the river and winds through untouched forests. Along the way, we cross small wooden bridges, each dedicated to one of the Muses. The serene landscape and tranquil atmosphere are truly captivating. The 3-kilometer hike ends at a peaceful spot where we’ll enjoy hot tea surrounded by nature.

On the way back, we’ll stop in Kastaneri to taste the locally famous tsourekia (sweet bread). Our final stop is Goumenissa, where we’ll visit Titos and enjoy a wine-tasting session featuring excellent local wines.

Important note

Visiting Titos Winery is optional. Guests who choose to participate in the wine tasting can do so for an additional €5. Those who prefer not to join the tasting will have free time to explore and relax in Goumenissa. The wine tasting includes two different wines, lasts 20 minutes, and will take place only with a minimum of 10 participants. You’ll enjoy the winery’s latest vintages, accompanied by breadsticks and select Greek cheeses.
