This is a hike that has been made frequently since ancient times by pilgrims bringing offerings to the sanctuary of the peak next to the stone chapel. Today, hundreds of faithful continue to bring their offerings in preparation for the local festival every September.
We will camp at the summit next to the Timios Stavros stone-built church to watch the sunrise, have coffee or mountain tea and breakfast, before we begin the descent. You can expect to return at Lakko Mygerou around noon depending on the group's pace as the descent is more challenging.
Following that, we will visit the shepherd's hut for lunch and a practical workshop such as cheesemaking.
The shepherd's hut

In the autumn, visitors can also attend entertaining events at a tsikoudia distillery. Additionally, there are opportunities year-round to observe the production of famous Cretan cheeses like graviera, mizithra, and anthotyro.
