The hike begins in Firostefani, just as the sun starts to sink over the caldera. Golden light spreads across the Aegean, the volcanic islands, and the whitewashed villages built along the cliffs, creating the perfect setting for the journey north toward Oia.
As daylight gives way to twilight, Santorini takes on a completely different mood. Follow your guide along the Caldera Trail through Firostefani and Imerovigli, enjoying spectacular views far away from the daytime crowds and summer heat.
The route leads past hidden chapels, quiet pathways, and panoramic overlooks facing the caldera, Skaros Rock, the lights of passing cruise ships, and the villages stretching toward Oia. At one of the trail’s most impressive viewpoints, you’ll pause to take in the island glowing under the moonlight.
Headlamps are provided for selected sections of the trail, helping you move safely after dark without taking away from the atmosphere of the experience.
The hike ends in the heart of Oia, where softly lit streets, whitewashed architecture, and the evening energy of the village offer a memorable final chapter.
