Sunset Hike and Stargazing

A unique autumn event for those who love looking up!

Our hike crosses the southwestern slopes of Parnassos and moves in the Alpine zone from Defner Refuge 1,840m to Gerontovrachos 2,396m. following part of the National Trail 22. It is a hiking route of moderate difficulty. For those who wish to hike a shorter distance, it will be possible to choose a lower ascent point, always accompanied by Trekking Hellas animators.

The Alpine landscape of Parnassos gives us unique images. One of them is the sunset with its magical colors embracing the mountains of the Peloponnese and being reflected in the waters of the Corinthian Gulf. Our hike will take about 4 hours in total.
Just before nightfall, we will return to the mountain refuge Michalis Defner on the terrace of which we will enjoy a hot drink under the starry sky. There will be an astronomer waiting for us who will show us how to recognize the most important constellations and how to orient ourselves at night with their help. Then with some of the largest portable astronomical telescopes we will enjoy the magic of the night sky away from the city lights! The enchanting Moon, the "lord of the rings" Saturn, binary star systems, entire galaxies are some of the celestial objects we will observe alongside our discussion of the wondrous Universe!
On October 12th we expect Parnassos and its night sky to be "at their best"!
