Overview

The tour starts from unspoiled mountainous village of Apollona nestled in the foothills of Profitis Ilias Mountain.

First, you will stop for a quick tour of a women agricultural co-op and learn how these proud, resourceful women run the enterprise. They will share their decisions, goals and a demonstration of local delicacy production with you.

From there, on foot, after an easy walk in the village, you will visit a local winery and learn about the various grape varietals. While here, bring a glass of delicious wine to your lips and understand first-hand why Rhodes produces some of the world’s most award-winning wines.

The highlight of the tour will be a personal cooking class from an expert local cook in the village who will share her secrets in making traditional, famous Greek fare including tzatziki, eggplant salad and ever-popular Greek salad. Learn how to make dolmadakia, Greek cheese pies and many more delights!

Finally, conclude your time in Apollona by feasting on the exceptional lunch that you and your fellow cooks have lovingly prepared.

Before you leave Apollona, you will also learn how to prepare the most traditional Greek Coffee.

I have to warn every potential participant of this activity about the danger it has. You will have so much and so tasty food that it's very hard to consume. I would suggest you to consider not eating before. ;) In general it was very interesting and fun experience. I'd love to do something similar again! Thank you! :)

We were able to spend a very instructive and wonderful day in Apollona. Aside from tourism, we were able to taste numerous local sweets and delicious wines. The highlight of the tour was the cooking class. Here we tried, with professional support, traditional dishes that were then served for lunch. Finally we got an insight into the past of the island in a historical museum. A big thank you also goes to our guide Maria, who guided us through the day with lots of information. The tour is an absolute must if you are not only interested in sun and sea but also in the country, which has a lot more to offer. Definitive recommendation for this tour.

Meeting time

The starting time of the tour is set at 09.30 for the guests who do not wish to use our pick up service and who choose to meet us at the starting location.

For those who choose the pick up and drop off add-on, the pick up time will be sent to them the day before the tour - it will be at approximately 08.30, and the tour will start at 09.30.

*Special remarks for cruise ship passengers :

For Cruise Ship arrivals before or at 08.00, pick up time will be scheduled at 08.30.
For other timings, please contact us before booking.

Duration of the tour including transportation

Please have in mind that transportation time for the location of the tour is 1 hour from Rhodes town (cruise port & nearby hotels).

1 hour & 20 minutes from Ixia, and less than an hour from Faliraki area etc.

If you are on a cruise (or on a tighter schedule anyway) & willing to take part at this tour, please have in mind that you are expected to be back at Rhodes town area (full of amazing food & memories) at around 15.00 (if transportation left Rhodes Town at 08.30ish).
