Christmas in Greece is like a festive mosaic, with traditions and customs as diverse as the landscapes across the country! 🇬🇷🎄 Which are the most popular, though? Let's find out!

Picture this: groups of kids spreading holiday cheer by ringing doorbells and belting out kalanta (carols) with unique words and wishes. Meanwhile, the air is filled with the irresistible scent of melomakarona biscuits (think honey and orange goodness) and the deep-fried delights of honey and cinnamon "diples". 🍯

And then there's Epiphania on January 6th—the epic "Blessing of the Waters." 🌊 Will it unfold in a nearby river, sea, or lake? No matter where you are, the vibe is universally joyful!

Now, let's talk Vasilopita—aka the New Year's Day good luck charm! 🍀 This delightful treat comes in all shapes and flavors, with a hidden coin. The family gets in on the action, slicing it up in age order, and even friends and visitors get a chance at some luck!

And because Greece is all about the sea, forget just decorating a Christmas tree—imagine jazzing up a small boat (karavaki)! . Originally to welcome sailors home, this tradition is now almost gone but it was very popular back in the day, especially in seaside towns and islands.

Now, brace yourself for "Podariko" on New Year's Day! The housewife goes all out, smashing a pomegranate at the front door. 🎉 The burst of bright pink seeds signifies a year ahead filled with happiness, good health, and abundance for the whole fam!

And if you are wondering about our favorite "tradition", it's none other than Christmas outings with our loved ones, enjoying outdoor activities in nature!
