Overview

Get ready for a unique experience during this year's International Camp Program at Black Forest!

The International Camp Black Forest will be bringing this summer young people from Spain, Germany, and Greece together for a Trinational Camp filled with exciting experiences!

We'll surprise our teens with numerous on-site activities such as soccer or volleyball tournaments, treasure hunts, campfire storytelling, and workshops including theater, pottery, soapstone carving, and dancing. We will take them on excursions to explore the beautiful areas of the Rhine Valley and the Black Forest. Our travels will span the entire region by train and bus. Each evening, expect an intercultural program, and each nationality will have one designated evening to showcase their country’s culture and food. And, of course, a camp disco or open-air cinema is a must!

Here's a small preview of the program and tours we've planned:

  • The Mega Hiking Tour: To the most beautiful corners of the legendary Hotzenwald, with two overnight stays outside the camp on the way to Schluchsee.
  • Top-Rope Climbing in Albruck.
  • Excursion to Konstanz.
  • German-Spanish-Greek Evening with culinary specialties.
  • At least one visit to the swimming pool.

Language of communication will be English!

Useful Information

  • Please ensure that kids passport is valid for the entire duration of their travel (from the day of departure until the day of return).
  • Pay close attention to the accuracy of the kids name details. The full names of the children should match their official travel document (passport). Any corrections to the information within the last 30 days are subject to additional charges from the airline company.
  • All participants will be covered by comprehensive travel insurance, which includes coverage for emergency medical expenses, repatriation expenses, and other costs resulting from accidents, illnesses, or Covid-19. There is a 100€ exemption, meaning that medical expenses up to 100€ are covered by the participants.
  • In case of illness or injury there is a fully operational hospital 10’ from the camp site.
  • Please consult with your family doctor regarding a possible tick protection vaccination.
  • Pocket money recommendation: In our estimation, 50€ should be sufficient for kids to have with them. Pocket money is only used for shopping personal items or souvenirs during excursions and in the airport areas. It is advisable for them to have an additional 100€ with them for any unforeseen medical expenses (see paragraph regarding Travel Insurance).
  • Camp life means living in nature. Therefore, the kids wardrobe should be suitable to withstand "dirt attacks".
  • In camp, there is an industrial dishwasher. This means that kids only need to bring utensils (plates, bowls and cups are provided). The utensils will be collected, washed, and stored.
  • Note Regarding Roaming: The camp is located near Switzerland, so there might be additional charges due to roaming. Often mobile phones switch to Swiss telecommunication companies, which may result in extra charges. Switching off the roaming service is advised.

Camp Facilities

The site includes a tent meadow, a large playing field, another area with a barbecue, a small pond and space for gathering tents. Additionally, there is a common room, a sickroom, sanitary facilities with toilets and showers and a generously equipped large kitchen.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in group tents for 5-6 young people. Important: You will need a carry mat, a pillow (or just a pillowcase which kids can fill with clothes), and a warm sleeping bag, as it can get cold inside the tent at night, even in the summer.

Location

The campsite is a true gem located in Schmitzingen, on the outskirts of the small community near Waldshut. The secluded location of the site in Black Forest provides optimal conditions for young people, allowing for both peace and relaxation, as well as the opportunity to be a bit louder in the evenings.

Meals

Meals are prepared three times a day by our kitchen team. As we are self-catering, and cooking takes up a significant amount of time, the kitchen team is always pleased if you, as participants, would like to help with preparation or washing up.
We are also happy to accommodate any food intolerances, specific dietary needs, or allergies. Please fill out the corresponding fields in the additional personal information form so that our kitchen team can make appropriate preparations.

Overall, we strive to purchase regionally and seasonally, ensuring a high quality of products.
