Useful Information

  • Please ensure that kids passport is valid for the entire duration of their travel (from the day of departure until the day of return).
  • Pay close attention to the accuracy of the kids name details. The full names of the children should match their official travel document (passport). Any corrections to the information within the last 30 days are subject to additional charges from the airline company.
  • All participants will be covered by comprehensive travel insurance, which includes coverage for emergency medical expenses, repatriation expenses, and other costs resulting from accidents, illnesses, or Covid-19. There is a 100€ exemption, meaning that medical expenses up to 100€ are covered by the participants.
  • In case of illness or injury there is a fully operational hospital 10’ from the camp site.
  • Pocket money recommendation: We recommend around £50 per child for personal expenses. This money is intended for purchases during excursions and, if needed, at the airport for currency exchange. It is also advisable to bring an additional £100 to cover any potential emergency medical expenses (see the paragraph on Travel Insurance).
  • Camp life means living in nature. Therefore, the kids wardrobe should be suitable to withstand "dirt attacks".
  • Note Regarding Roaming: After Brexit, the “Roam Like at Home” rules within the EU no longer apply automatically. This means that using mobile data, calls, and SMS may incur additional charges depending on your provider. Before departure, we recommend checking with your mobile operator or activating a special roaming package to avoid unexpected costs during your stay at the camp.

FAQs

Airport transfers to and from the airport for children travelling from outside the United Kingdom

1. Our partner organisation delivering the camp can arrange airport transfers to and from major UK airports for individual participants arriving and departing from the United Kingdom.

2. Transfers are offered from the following airports:
– Heathrow Airport
– Gatwick Airport

3. To fit within the standard transfer schedule, we recommend booking flights with the following times:
– Arrivals: before 12:00 pm (GMT+0)
– Departures: after 12:00 pm (GMT+0)

Transfers outside these times may still be possible but will incur an additional charge.

4. A member of the camp’s trained staff will meet your child at the airport and accompany them safely to the camp, where they will be settled directly into their group.

Medical support and well-being

Camp staff are always available to monitor and support any child who feels unwell. They provide basic first aid and ensure the child is comfortable while assessing the situation. If further medical attention is required, they have access to local healthcare professionals and act accordingly.

Parents are informed promptly of any health-related concerns, and camp staff work closely with them to determine the most appropriate course of action, whether this involves rest, medical treatment, or, in rare cases, early withdrawal from the programme.

Parents are asked to declare any illnesses, allergies, additional needs, or medical conditions during the booking process. This helps the team prepare appropriately and ensure that children are safe and supported throughout their stay.

If a child is taking any prescribed medication, full written details and clear instructions must be provided. Medications must be supplied in their original packaging and handed directly to our staff on arrival. Trained staff are able to store, record, and administer medication safely where required.

Supervision, safety and staff

1. Camp staff provide 24/7 supervision, ensuring that participants are safe and always have someone to turn to. All activities are led by experienced leaders, and safety briefings are given before each activity.

In addition, a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) oversees all safeguarding measures, ensuring the highest standards of care and protection for every child.

2. All staff are DBS-checked, appropriately trained, and experienced in working with children and young people.

Team members are fully qualified to deliver their activities, and all staff receive training in safeguarding and first aid to ensure participants are safe and supported at all times.
