Overview

Our Summer Youth Camp at Tsivlou lake welcomes teens, who want to live unique and exciting experiences. On our camp in Chelmos, kids enjoy days full of adventure and action.

Chelmos, with its unique natural environment, rich history, and tradition, is ideal for authentic and meaningful contact with nature and the cultural heritage of our country. We will hike on the wonderful mountainous trails of Chelmos, we will climb, paddle on our canoes along the beautiful water routes of lake Tsivlou and so much more!

The children are accommodated in 4-season tents providing protection from the sun and rain.

At nights, we get the opportunity to gaze the starry sky. We all gather together and share stories and experiences to strengthen the bonds of friendship. We play and we have a lot of fun!

Day by day program is indicative/the order of activities is subject to change depending on group dynamics and weather.

All our activities are specially designed for children and are operated with trained guides following all safety rules!

Accommodation

The children are accommodated in 4-season tents with coverage for sun and rain.

Entertaining and educational activities take place in the mountainous area of Chelmos and Lake Tsivlou. The aim of the program is for children to spend as much time in nature as possible.

Location

The camp takes place at the Trekking Hellas Achaea base by Lake Tsivlou, just 1 hour away from Kalavryta.

Transfers

Transfers to/from the summer camp 

Our Reservations Department will inform you about the time & pick up/drop off point of the kids in due time. 

Our Reservations Department must be notified of any change concerning the drop-off or pick-up of the kids at least 3 days in advance: kids@trekking.gr / tel. (+30) 210 3310323.

Organizational structure – Staff

Camp director: Giannis Chouliaras

  • He is strongly involved in the field of outdoor activities (mountain hiking, mountain ski)
  • He is a snowboard instructor.
  • He is a First Aider.
  • He counts many years of experience in outdoor activities.
  • He is passionate and actively cares about the protection and preservation of the environment and loves local traditions.
  • He is the Camp Manager and therefore responsible for the proper conduct of the program.

Team Leaders

  • They lead their teams, guide, help, inspire and protect.
  • They know the character of each of the kids, and their preferences in food, music, and activities.
  • They all have attended a mandatory course of seminars, including theoretical knowledge and training in games and activities of the program.
  • They all are First Aiders.

Activity Guides

  • They are all trained and certified to plan, coordinate and supervise the offering activities for children's entertainment.

Medical Coverage

  • Team leaders and activity guides are trained in providing first aid.
  • The camp operates with a fully equipped infirmary.
  • A doctor is on call 24/7 for any needs.
  • In case of a serious issue, the child will be transported to the medical centre in Kalavryta (38 km) from the campsite. The University Hospital of Rio is located 60 minutes away.

Visiting

As the program runs for a short duration, there is no specific visiting day. However, if you feel that it is necessary to visit your child during the program, we kindly ask that you consult with the program coordinator beforehand. It is worth noting that we recommend avoiding visits as they may disrupt the rhythm of the children's daily activities. 

Meals

The dietary program for children is carefully designed to meet all of their nutritional needs and preferences. With 5 meals a day, we ensure that children receive the energy and nutrients they require for the various activities they engage in, whether they take place within or outside of the camp.

Indicative feeding programme

Breakfast: Breakfast includes milk, cereals, honey, honey, tahini, pralines, jams, cakes, fruits, cold cuts and cheeses, dried fruits, fresh boiled eggs, pancakes

Snack: Fresh juice with sandwiches/ fruits/ iced tea/ cake/ wraps/ traditional pies

Lunch: served between 14.30-15.30 depending on activities

Afternoon: Homemade pie/ ice cream/ jelly/ banana bread served at 17:30

Dinner: served between 20:30 - 21:30

All meals are always accompanied by a salad from the garden and seasonal fruit.

Equipment

We kindly request that parents pay special attention to ensuring their child is properly equipped with the necessary items listed below. Our exciting camp activities require appropriate equipment to ensure that they are enjoyable and not tiring for the children. Improper equipment, such as backpacks and shoes not designed for mountain activities, can even cause injuries. Please review the following list carefully to ensure that your child has everything they need for their stay with us.

Accommodation:

  • Sleeping bag (4 seasons) & sleeping carry mat 
  • 1 sheet, 1 pillowcase, 1 pillow
  • Flashlight

Clothing:

  • Athletic clothing (t-shirts, shorts)
  • Athletic gear/long pants for hiking in the forest to protect against thorns and possible insect bites
  • Sweatshirt, pullover, or fleece

  • Socks

Footwear:

  • 2 pairs of sport shoes
  • Slippers
  • Hiking boots for greater safety and comfort during hikes

Excursions:

  • Hat

  • Sunscreen with a high protection factor for face/body
  • Swimsuit & beach towel

In case of loss of any item (e.g. watch, etc.), the camp and program leader are not responsible.

Frequent communication with your child may make it difficult for them to adapt smoothly and quickly to the program. Children have a full schedule of activities every day.

*Please note that possession and use of mobile phones by children are strictly prohibited in the program. If a child is found in possession of a cell phone, it will be confiscated by the group leader and returned at the end of the program.
