Mikros Gialos to Meganisi

After our breakfast we will set off with our sea kayaks from the small pebble beach of Mikros Gialos. We will start with the exploration of the sea caves scattered in and around Rouda Bay on the eastern coast of the island. Then we will cross the small archipelago of Lefkada towards the uninhabited islet of Thilia for some snorkeling and a delicious picnic. Around Meganisi, Skorpios & Madouri

We will enjoy breakfast on the beach of Ag. Ioannis and then head to the Prince’s islands of Lefkada. We will paddle along the lush western coast of the island to reach the famous islets of Skorpios and Madouri. We tour around the islets, explore the seabed of the area with our masks, and enjoy a light Mediterranean meal on the beach. Later on we return to the picturesque Meganisi island, leave our kayaks in the harbor of Spilia and visit the traditional village of Spartochori with its magnificent views. In the evening we will return to Spilia for a tasty dinner at a traditional tavern and overnight in rooms already reserved for us.

Camp out in Limonari bay

Today we will prepare our equipment and hop on our kayaks leaving from Spilia to the north-eastern coastline of Meganisi with the ‘fjords-like’ peninsulas. Today’s trip will be relatively short and relaxing with many stops for snorkeling, swimming and of course, all sorts of local delicacies to savor along the way. The goal of the day is to stay in shape and at the same time save energy for the following four days in Taphians’ land, the so called Tilevoides’ islands. Today’s destination will be a sheltered natural harbor, like Limonari Bay, suitable to accommodate us and our tents for a night under the summer sky.

Kalamos Island

Some fresh fragrant coffee, a light but energizing breakfast, a dive in the crystal waters of the Ionian Sea and off we go for the next Sea-Paradise of Ionian Sea, the island of Kalamos! High peaks and steep slopes, that plunge into the deep blue of the archipelagos, white pebble beaches covered with pine trees and the ultimate combination of the southern sun and blue Mediterranean Sea create the fascinating atmosphere.

Today we will ride our kayaks along the northern and eastern coastline of Kalamos, making stops for snorkeling and swimming, until we reach the traditional settlement of the island, named Kalamos. In the evening we will enjoy the hospitality of the locals and the distinct taste of traditional delicacies with a glass of ouzo. Overnight in rooms.

Kastos Island

Today we will move on, leaving the heavenly island of Kalamos and the cordial hospitality of its people behind us. We will head to the ‘hermit’ of Ionian Sea, the island of Kastos. With only one settlement, Kastos has managed to preserve the ambiance of yesteryear that combines local tradition and the tranquility and remoteness that most of its guests seek to find. With our kayaks we will tour the northern and western coastline of the island. We will explore the unique fishing grounds and the sea caves of the island, and rest on picturesque remote beaches under the shade of the trees. Then we visit the settlement of Kastos and continue south until we reach the beach where we set up camp. BBQ is in order and overnight in our tents.

Kastos, Papanikolis cave to Ag. Ioannis beach

A refreshing dive in the calm waters of Kastos is in order and then off to one of the biggest and most beautiful underwater caves in the world, the Papanikoli’s Sea Cave. Equip yourself with courage and patience for the largest crossing of this multi-day trip.
With our kayaks we will paddle among the Tilevoides Islands starting from Kastos, we will make a stop in Kalamos until we finally reach the southwestern side of Meganisi and explore the area around Cape ‘Kefali’ (Head). We will explore the magnificent Sea Caves Papanikolis’, Giovanis’ and Demon’s on the western coast of Meganisi. We will marvel nature’s splendor inside the sea caves with the impressive stalactites and the unique colors created by the playful sun-light. Our final destination for today is the beach of Agios Ioannis. A farewell beach party with the whole group is in order! Overnight in tents.

Back to Lefkada

On the final day of this extraordinary trip in the Ionian Sea, we will kayak along the eastern coast of Lefkada. We will leave the welcoming beach of Ag. Ioannis in Meganisi and make our way to Desimi, a picturesque pebble beach located in a sheltered bay, east of Cape Geni in Lefkada. At a short distance from the beach, we will visit the sea cave and small stone chapel of Ag. Nikolaos. We will marvel the spectacular underwater life of the cave and relax on the small pebbled beach before we depart for Rouda Bay. In the last part of this unique sea adventure we will head out on the calm and safe waters of Lefkada’s east coast, making stops at isolated beaches for swimming and snorkeling. This multi-day sea kayak journey ends at our familiar beach of Mikros Gialos.
