Start your journey in Volos, where our team will welcome you and transport you to the charming village of Milies. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the region, traversing old railways and picturesque paths.

Explore Mount Pelion's diverse terrain as you hike from Milies to Tsagarada, passing through chestnut tree-filled forests and reaching historic villages like Xourihti. Discover secluded beaches with crystal-clear waters and enjoy breathtaking views along the coastal paths.

Continue your trek along the coast, concluding in the village of Kissos. Transfer to Chania, the highest settlement in the area, and explore the landscapes around Chania, from the ski center to the forested trails.

Follow the mythical path of the Centaurs from Chania to Portaria, adding a touch of Greek mythology to your trek. Throughout your journey, each step unveils a blend of natural wonders, historical richness, and the joy of exploration.

Arrival on your own to Volos

Our team will meet you in Volos and drive you (about half hour) to Milies village.

Overnight stay in Milies

Hike Milies - Kala Nera - Milies

Follow in the beginning of the day the railways till Pinakates old station stop and then down to Kala Nera. Here you can swim and have lunch next to the sea in Pagasitikos Gulf. Then by an old stone path back to Milies.

Hike Milies - Xourihti - Tsagarada - Damouchari

On today’s hike you cross Mount Pelion from South West to North East. From Milies village, walk on a forest road through chestnut trees and reach the village of Xourihti. After that to Tsagarada village. There in the square you will admire the oldest plane tree in Europe, more than 1800 years old.

Tsagarada - Fakistra – Damouchari

Our destination on today’s hike is the isolated beach of Fakistra with crystal clear blue water.

Following the coastal path, having magnificent views of the Aegean Sea we’ll enjoy this isolated beach for our pick nick lunch and for swimming.

Later on, you will walk along the same (last part of the  path )  back to Damouchari.

Duration: 4 hours

Damouchari - Agios Ioannis - Kissos (transfer to Chania)

Starting from Damouchari, following the path along the shore to Agios Ioannis and the magnificent sandy beach Papa Nero. There is an opportunity to jump into the turquoise waters of Papa Nero and then hike to the village of Kissos . From the square of Kissos our team will meet you at 17.00 and drive you to the settlement of Chania, the highest among the villages of the area (1.190 m).

Elevation: from sea level to 1692ft

Duration: 4-5 hours

Chania – Agriolefkes-Chania

From your hotel in Chania ,  follow the road up to the ski Centre at 1580m and from there you will enjoy during your walk,  the fantastic views of both the Aegean Sea and the Pagasitikos Gulf.  Continue through the forest of aspen and beech trees in a circular route back to Chania.

Distance: 7,4 miles

Elevation: 3772 – 4265 – 3937 – 4593 - 3772

Duration: 6,5 hours

Note : We can reduce the hike on the asphalt road ( from the hotel to the ski area, half hour and back  half hour )  by driving you to the ski area. For this you have to notify the hotel

Chania - Portaria

Today we will follow the same path that was used according to the Greek Mythology by the Centaurs. These creatures were the followers of the wine god Dionysus and are well known for drunkenness and lustfulness.

The path leads us to the village of Portaria.

Equipment

  • Large, comfortable rucksack (40 – 50 liters) with padded straps and waist belt, internal frame preferred; waterproof liner recommended keeping clothing, etc. dry inside.
  • Sturdy, worn in trekking shoes.
  • Good waterproof top with hood.
  • Warm clothes, both for windy / cold daytime conditions and for the cool evenings (fleece tops or similar).
  • Shorts and long trousers for walking, preferably quick-drying material (cotton or poly-cotton not denim).
  • Sweatshirts or T-shirts for walking, at least one with long sleeves and collar (against sunburn).
  • Wash bag and simple first aid kit (plasters or blister kit, aspirin or similar, antiseptic).
  • Sunglasses, towel, sun hat or cap, sunblock.
  • Photographers: bring your cameras.
  • Walking sticks.
  • Your own personal water bottle. As part of our environmental policy and actions, we are committed to eliminating the use of plastic water bottles.

Type of terrain of the trail

Most of the hike is through a thick forest of pine, beech and fir trees, and the path is in good condition.

Weather to be expected

End of June usually the weather has midday instability (ie local storms, without this being a rule especially in recent years when the weather is unpredictable). July & August are the hottest months of the season and September is a relatively stable month with good temperatures
