Inachos River is the largest stream of the prefecture in the Municipality of Argos-Mycenae. It derives from Mount Artemisio and Mount Lyrkeio to the Argolic Gulf, crossing a beautiful gorge and a fertile valley with olive groves. It took its name from Inachus, the child of Oceanus, as he was drowned in the river because of his insults against Zeus. It is also said that the river Inachus took its name from the king of Argos. The few springs of Inachos river have crystal clear water and some of them have been used for therapeutic purposes. One of its main springs, through which its rejuvenating water flows all year round, is the "Brakatsaki" spring which is located on the road connecting Karya to Nestani.
Inachos gorge offers a variety of transitions, technical difficulties and unparalleled landscapes and is one of the most interesting technical canyons in Peloponnese. With a total length of 2.5 kilometers and an altitude difference of 400 m, it starts from the outskirts of Karya and Nestani to end up near Neohori.
IWhile hiking to reach the entrance of the upper part that we cross, the ruins of at least 8 stone watermills, the ruins of an old bridge and the road that connected the complex to the village of Karya are also impressive.
