This year’s Trekking Hellas’ annual meeting in the beautiful region of Litochoro and Olympus proved just that. With the kind support and hospitality of Trekking Hellas Mt. Olympus, we had a blast team bonding, exploring new locations and promoting sustainability. 🧑🏽🤝🧑🏻 We spent three days immersing ourselves in the natural beauty of the area, learning about its history and culture, and connecting with the locals.
Our first hike started in Litochoro, following old alleys and passing by the First Primary School and the church of Agia Paraskevi. We then followed a path with a magical view of Litochoro and the sea, and enjoyed an amazing view of the high peaks of Mytikas and Stefani from the wide opening of the Enipeas gorge. Another group chose the 7-hour hike to Mt. Olympus, at the Petrostruga Refuge (1940m). We made the ascent from the classic path, in a dense beech forest and centuries-old rombola. We all truly enjoyed our adventures and we returned full of images and experiences!
🌲🚂 We tried to be as eco-friendly as possible, by minimizing the use of transport. Our main means of transportation was the train and we participated in treks starting from Litochoro, avoiding extra transport.💡 Making the eco calculation, in simple terms, from our train journey we estimated that we saved over 1000 kg of carbon emissions!
The 22 people who made the Athens-Litochoro-Athens journey of about 1000 km, would have used at least 6 cars = at least 400 liters of diesel consumption. Given that for every liter of diesel 2.6 kg of CO2 is emitted, we saved over a ton of carbon dioxide (to be precise, 1200 kg) in three days!
Our annual meeting wouldn't be complete without recognizing the hidden talents of our employees. This year, we held a “Best Outdoor Photo” competition, and we had some truly breathtaking shots to choose from, but one stood out above the rest. The winner may have won the “big” prize, we all enjoyed our branded gifts as well, which were mostly donated by POLO Center!
