Having remained protected from the world until recently, the Zagori area retains the beauty of the past. Tradition and authenticity graced with lush forests, deep gorges and beautiful blue rivers! During our 4 days Active & Culture Tour Zagori tour we will have the opportunity to discover this wild region. Hike in its beautiful nature. Explore some of the 44 traditional villages. Enjoy delicious meals. Paddle down the roaring Voidomatis River. Hike in the stunning Vikos Gorge! One of the most beautiful gorges in Greece. With interconnecting footpaths that link stone villages tucked into folds of mountains. And a cool breeze that drifts through the tree-shaded gorge makes it possible to hike all summer! Maples, beech, fig, and oak trees along Greek National Trail #03 that follows the Voidomatis River through the gorge are ablaze with color and beauty!
In the well preserved villages of the Zagori, you will find traditional guesthouses, with hospitable owners and savor traditional meals made with local ingredients. This is a soft adventure cultural tour through which you will get the chance to experience the regions highlights. The tour starts from the town of Ioannina where you can either fly via a domestic flight from Athens or drive from the areas closest airports (Corfu, Preveza, and Thessaloniki) or another destination. If you need assistance on that please do not hesitate to contact us.

Overnight in Aristi village
This wonderful circular hike is an ideal way of exploring the hidden gems of Central Zagori!
Starting from Vitsa village, we visit the most iconic traditional villages of the area such as Vitsa, Koukouli, Kipi and Dilofo villages. The hiking tour will give us the opportunity to see, admire and walk on the arched stone bridges, which were very significant to Zagorians as they were the only connection between the villages and its inhabitants before roads were built!

Overnight in Aristi village
We start the hike at the village of Monodendri and after 45 minutes we enter the Vikos gorge. We will need approximately 4 hours until we reach the springs of Voidomatis and another hour until we reach the village of Vikos.
The landscape of the 20 km long gorge, 12 km οf which belonging to the Vikos – Aoos National Park’s core zοne, presents a diverse relief and is characterized by abrupt altitudinal changes. Steep slopes and precipitous rocky cliffs dominate in the middle and higher zones respectively. The gorge has been carved over millions of years by Voidomatis River.

Overnight in Aristi village
A relaxing rafting descent in the crystal clear waters of Voidomatis river, in the heart of the National Park of Vikos – Aoos.
Voidomatis River rises in Vikos gorge and follows an impressive waterway wreathed with age-long plane trees that border its bed and traditional stone bridges over the waters. Voidomatis River joins its crystal clear waters with those of Aoos River, in Konitsa’s plain.
After this happy end we transfer you back to our pick point to continue your journey!
