Starting from Athens we set off for the Epirus Mountain Range! Our destination for the day is the village of Monodendri, in the heart of the Pindus mountains. After we arrive, we settle in our guesthouse. Debrief and get to know our group! In the afternoon we enjoy a beautiful hike in this stunning area. A delicious dinner awaits and a chance to rest and get ready for our adventure…

  • Overnight: 3* guesthouse in Monodendri

Rise and shine!! After a nutritious breakfast, get ready to immerse yourself in the Greek wilderness!

Today we will cross the legendary Vikos Gorge!

The Vikos Gorge is part of the 12,600 hectares Vikos-Aoos National Park and has been listed in the Guinness book of records as the deepest canyon worldwide in proportion to its width. It is definitely a spectacular sight! It is accessible from several points, including the gravity-defying cliff-face monastery of Agia Paraskevi at its southern end and the ridge-top village of Vikos at the other. The landscape of the 20 km long gorge is extremely diverse and is characterized by abrupt changes in altitude. The Vikos Gorge has been carved over millions of years by the Voidomatis River,  a tributary of the Aoös River. As it splits the mountain in half, its slopes expose rock formations of limestone and dolomite, dating back to 150 million years. Its vertical cliffs rise up to a height of 1.700 meters.

  • Hike the world’s deepest canyon
  • A UNESCO Global Geopark
  • Discover the beauty of Voidomatis springs
  • Live an unforgettable experience

Our hike ends in the village of Mikro Papigo. We head to our guesthouse for the night, have a great dinner to compensate for the energy spent, and enjoy the company and beautiful surroundings!

  • Overnight: 3* guesthouse in Mikro Papigo

Hope you had a good rest… as this is a brand new day! Breakfast done, we start our hike to the summit of Mount Tymphi! At an altitude of 2.497 meters stands the imposing summit of Gamilla! Rest assured that the view from up there is truly astonishing! Backpack ready…we set out for the peak! Today’s hike brings us to the mountain hut of Astraka, where we will spend the night. An amazing stargazing evening standing at 1.950 meters above sea level lies ahead. Storytelling & thought sharing are on the menu. Dinner and off to bed…

  • Overnight: Mountain Hut Astraka

An early morning wake in the mountains… what can be more invigorating! After breakfast, we get ready and hike to the renowned Dragon Lakes, believed to be remnants of the last Ice Age. This harsh environment of limited nutrients, wide variations in sunlight during the summer and the winter months, and acute fluctuations in temperature have turned the Dragon lake of Mt Tymphi into a truly unique ecosystem. Their waters are home to the Alpine Newt, a striking amphibian that has been around for thousands of years. It is approximately 10-12 cm long with an impressive orange-red color in the lower part of its body. And truly resembles a small dragon!

Our Trekking Hellas team picks us up from the village of Mikro Papigo and takes us straight to the river! The stunning Voidomatis River with its crystal clear waters awaits for yet another adventure!

The Voidomatis River rises in the Vikos Gorge and follows an impressive waterway, wreathed with age-long plane trees that border its bed and traditional stone bridges. Lush forests, high imposing mountains, and deep ravines weaved together with local culture and tradition!

  • Rafting in the heart of Vikos-Aoos National Park
  • Paddle through turquoise crystal clear waters
  • Discover the inner beauty of Voidomatis Gorge
  • Have fun whilst swimming and jumping in the crystal clear waters
  • Pass by the arched bridge of Klidonia

As the afternoon approaches, we will have to leave this beautiful area behind us and switch from mountain to sea… Transfer to Nydri, Lefkada for our sea kayak exploration.

  • Overnight: 3* guesthouse in Nydri, Lefkada.

As we open our eyes today, we realize the mountains are behind us… we find ourselves in the spectacular setting of the Ionian Islands. After a nutritious breakfast, we gear up and take to the sea. Hop on our sea kayaks and paddle our way to the islets of Madouri, Skoprios, and Meganisi. Madouri is a small and uninhabited islet covered with forests! Scorpios on the other hand is a private island to the east of Lefkada, known for its late owner, shipping billionaire Aristotle Onassis! Our destination for today is the island of Meganisi. Secluded and untouched, Meganisi boasts an unspoiled beauty. Here we swim, relax, set camp, enjoy a great BBQ by the sea!

  • Overnight: Camping in the wild

Sunkissed by the morning sunrise we get ready for breakfast and another sea exploration. Today we are heading to the island of Kalamos. Inhabited, yet not known by most, Kalamos is a mountainous piece of land “floating” in the sea. Green, like most Ionian Islands with beautiful pebbly peaches and crystal-clear waters! There are two main settlements on the island, Kalamos (the capital) and Episkopi to the northwest.

  • Overnight: Camping in the wild

The island of Kastos is our next stop. Today, after our breakfast and morning preparations, we head out to sea with destination Kastos, to the southeast of Meganisi. A tiny hideaway measuring just 8klm from north to south with stunning beaches and turquoise waters. Our paddling exploration brings us to isolated beaches where we swim, snorkel and enjoy life!

  • Overnight: Camping in the wild

Breakfast done, packed, and ready… we set off for the last stretch of sea of this adventure! We head towards one of the pointy landscape of the picturesque harbor of Mytikas! Enjoying the beautiful view of the Ionian islands we say our goodbyes and head back home…

Thank you for joining & hope to see you again on one of our adventures!
